On the final day of Masopust in the Prague district of
Zizkov, hundreds of people gather in costume to parade through the city
streets in celebration of Masopust Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday. The 8th
annual festivities in Zizkov coincide with the traditional Christian
celebrations which began this year on January 6th and ended February
28th. With free beer, hot wine, grog and an array of meaty delights,
the parade traditionally winds its way through the streets of Zizkov,
stopping at small pubs and squares to dance, watch jugglers and fire-eaters
and most importantly, refill their stomachs with beer and sausages.
