Occupy Wall Street NYC

March and mass arrests on Brooklyn Bridge: Oct. 1st

Occupy Wall Street protestors made their way from Liberty Square (Zuccotti Park) up Broadway to the Brooklyn Bridge. Originally planning to march across the bridge to the other side for a rally, part of the march took a quick turn and headed onto the traffic lanes of the bridge instead of the designated pedestrian walkway. Soon after the NYPD stopped the procession in the middle of the bridge after which, some protestors sat down in the road facing off with the police. NYPD officers eventually corralled (kettled) the group of marchers behind fencing and one by one, arrested more than 700 people.
